Process Families

Process Families are high-level groupings of related enterprise processes that share a common functional purpose. They represent the primary domains through which the organization operates and delivers value.

Within the Enterprise Business Process Architecture, Process Families provide the structural link between the Enterprise Process Model and detailed end-to-end processes.

Purpose

Process Families organize enterprise activities into manageable and governable domains. They enable clear ownership, consistent governance, and alignment between strategic objectives and operational execution.

Defining a Process Family

A Process Family encompasses a set of related end-to-end processes that collectively fulfill a specific enterprise function. Families are defined by intent and outcome, not by organizational structure.

Governance and Classification

Each Process Family is classified based on regulatory impact, risk, and business criticality. Quality-critical families are governed under the Quality Management System and subject to enhanced oversight.

Relationships Between Process Families

Process Families interact through defined inputs, outputs, and handoffs. These relationships ensure end-to-end flow across the enterprise while maintaining clear accountability and governance boundaries.
