Policies & Standards
Policies and standards establish the rules and expectations that govern how enterprise processes are designed, executed, and controlled. They provide the foundation for consistent behavior and regulatory compliance across the organization.
This page explains the role of policies and standards within the Enterprise Business Process Architecture and how they guide, but do not replace, procedural execution.
Purpose
Policies and standards define mandatory requirements and guiding principles that apply across enterprise processes. They ensure alignment with regulatory obligations, quality objectives, and business expectations.
Enterprise Policies
Policies articulate high-level rules, responsibilities, and constraints that govern enterprise behavior. They define what must be done and who is accountable, without prescribing detailed execution steps.
Enterprise Standards
Standards translate policy intent into consistent requirements that guide process design and execution. Standards may define acceptable methods, criteria, or frameworks while allowing flexibility in implementation.
Governance and Application
Policies and standards are governed through formal approval, review, and change control processes. Quality-critical policies and standards are subject to Quality Unit oversight under the Quality Management System.
