1. Purpose
This guide explains how to assign, maintain, and document material
status and quarantine controls to ensure that only approved materials
are used or shipped.
2. When to Use This Guide
- Materials are received into the warehouse
- Material status changes are required
- Materials must be placed into or removed from quarantine
3. High-Level Flow
- Assign initial material status
- Physically segregate materials by status
- Document status in the quarantine log
- Update status upon authorization
4. How to Maintain Material Status & Quarantine Control

Assign the appropriate material status (e.g., Quarantine, Approved,
Rejected, Returned, or Sampled) upon receipt or status change.

Place materials into the designated physical area corresponding
to the assigned status.

Apply or verify status labels and identifiers are visible and accurate.

Record the material status and location in
LOG-WH-QUAR-01.

Prevent movement or use of materials unless status authorization
has been confirmed.

Update the log promptly when status changes are approved.
Note:
Only authorized personnel may approve changes from quarantine or
restricted status. Unauthorized movement or use of materials is
prohibited.
5. How to Know You’re Done
Material status and quarantine control are complete when materials
are correctly segregated, status labels match system records, and
all status changes are accurately documented.
